Performing and Creative Arts Honors Scholarships
Scholarships are awarded in the amounts of $1,000 to $5,000 each year. Students awarded these scholarships receive all the special privileges accorded Honors Scholars. To qualify for consideration for a Performing and Creative Arts Scholarship, a student must present a minimum high school average of 90 and a combined SAT score of at least 1230 or ACT score of 28. The general SUNY application for admission to the University at Buffalo must be submitted in addition to this application. Both should be completed as early as possible. Recipients of Performing and Creative Arts Scholarships must maintain a major in one of the five designated areas. Candidates for these special scholarships must complete an application, available on request to the Honors Program. In addition to the application, candidates in Theatre/Dance/Music Theatre must also submit a resume which should include: in Theatre – education, training, performance, and other theatre experience; in Dance – education, training in dance and related areas, and any performance, choreographic and teaching experience. An essay is required, discussing your career goals and the influences and experiences that have led you to elect a major in Dance, Theatre, or Music Theatre. Address your strengths, what you hope to gain from your university experience, and your intended area of interest from the following choices: in Theatre – acting, music theatre, design, stage technology, playwriting, directing; in Dance and/or Music Theatre – performance, choreography, research, teaching, preparation for health related careers in dance.
Two letters of recommendation are required: for Dance or Music Theatre, one recommendation should be from a dance instructor and one from an academic teacher; for Theatre, one of the two references must be from a teacher or an academic advisor. ALL reference letters should be from people with whom you have worked in the past two years and must be sent under separate cover. Include addresses and telephone numbers of references.
A dance audition or an interview for
a portfolio review for design tech students should be arranged directly with
the Department. Call the Department for more information or an appointment

Perry Watkins Scholarships in Theatre Design/Technology
Eligibility:
* Recipients must be of African-American Descent
* Recipients must be entering the University as Freshmen
Requirements:
* These are full tuition scholarships, amounting to approximately $3500 per semester. All other expenses and fees must be paid by the recipients.
* Recipients of the scholarship must maintain good academic standing for four years to retain the scholarship.
* Recipients are expected to assist in the recruitment effort for future recipients of this award.

Stanley Travis Memorial Scholarship
Eligibility:
* Applicants must be currently enrolled as majors in the University at Buffalo, Department of Theatre & Dance.
Requirements:
* Recipients are need-based worthy undergraduate and/or graduate students in the performing arts.
* Personal statement must be included and attached to each application
Additional Information:
* The awards are named in the spring, with the award given in the fall semester.
* Monetary amount of the award varies.
*Applications are available outside of main office (285 Alumni), near Exit.
