Class of 2013

Matt Oliner received a BFA in Theatre Design and Technology from UB in 2013. After finishing his degree, Matt worked for the University of Delaware's Resident Ensemble Players for a year before joining The Ringling Brothers Circus Super Circus Heroes tour as an electrician.

Class of 2011

Matthew Nerber received a BFA in Theatre Performance from UB in 2011. Matthew has since worked as an actor with Shattered Globe in Chicago, and written and directed several short films recognized at international film festivals.

Samuel Robbins earned a BFA degree in Dance from UB in 2011. Samuel is currently teaching locally for my community, spreading health awareness; auditioning for cruise ship companies as a dancer; applying for dance/movement therapy programs at Sarah Lawrence College and Columbia College in Chicago for Fall 2014. Ryan Cupello received a BFA in Music Theatre degree from UB in 2010.  He is currently playing Nachum and understudying Perchik in the National Tour of Fiddler on the Roof. Ryan can be reached at rfcupello@gmail.com.

Kevin Zak earned a BFA in Music Theatre.  Credits include: "Cats," National Tour and Intern at "the Ellen DeGeneres Show."  He studies at the LA Groundlings Training Center.

Class of 2009

Amanda Lydon received a BFA with an emphasis in dance, choreography and performance from UB in 2009.  Amanda is a nationally recognized award winning choreographer and teacher who is currently perusing personal dreams and aspirations as a perfessional dancer and performer. Louie Napoleon graduated from UB in 2009 with a degree in Music Theatre.  He has performed in National Tours in CABARET, CATS (Skimbleshanks) and WEST SIDE STORY (Swing), as well as and International Tour in WEST SIDE STORY (Action). Class of 2008

Michael Peter Deeb received a BFA in Dance from UB in 2008.  Since graduating, Michael has had roles in National Tours of "A Chorus Line" and "Young Frankenstein." He has worked for Celebrity Cruises and in regional theatres across the country. Andrew Delo graduate in May 2008. Jenna Winnett received a BA in Theatre from UB in 2008.   Jenna is an agent at Judy Boals Inc in NYC.  She joined Judy Boals Inc. in early 2011 as an intern and quickly moved up to assistant, then to agent in less than a year. She is now running the TV/ Film Department as a Franchised Agent. Judy Boals Inc. is a talent and literary agency with clients currently working on Broadway and National tours, as well as TV and film. Currently Jenna has clients in recurring roles on Blue Bloods, House of Cards, Zero Hour, Criminal Justice, Orange is the New Black and The Michael J. Fox Shows, as well as clients working on Broadway in such productions as Big Fish, Book of Mormon, Macbeth and Mamma Mia. Lauren P. Nelson has continued to Dance competatively with Dance Sport Academy.  Lauren competed in the United States Dance Championship in Smooth ballroom dance and was a national finalist in 2007.  Lauren is currently a psychotherapist working with severely emotionally and behaviorally disturbed adolescents and families, incorporating dance/movement into treatment modalities.  Lauren implemented dance/movement therapy into residential facility in Bryn Mawr, PA in 2008.  She has earned BA, MSS, and LSW degrees.  She can be reached at dancer542@aol.com.

Christopher Fishburne currently resides in NYC and Los Angeles.  He graduated from UB with a BFA in Music Theatre in 2005.  After graduation Chris attended The Ailey School as a fellowship student until 2007, after which, he freelanced for Alma Ballet Chicago, Staten Island Ballet, and most recently, The Lula Washington Dance Theatre in Los Angeles and commerical artists Jodie Watley and  Sasha Gradiva. Dena Kay Ewin received a M.A. degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, Humanities in June 2004.  During her final semester of Graduate school, she began to form her ultimate dream of opening a dance studio which is now called DK Dance (where she is the Dance Director and an Instructor). Robert Dzvonick received a BA degree in Theatre. Maia Evwaraye-Griffin received BA degrees in Dance and Psychology in May 2003. In June 2003 she will be competing for the title of Miss New York State, and if all goes well she will be off to the Miss America pageant in Atlantic City soon after. Maia can be reached via email at moeg12@aol.com.

Lindsay Craven Guarino graduated from UB in 2003 with a BFA in Dance, as well as earning an MFA in Dance from the University of Arizona in 2006. Lindsay is an assistant professor of dance at Salve Regina University in Newport, RI.  She directs the dance program and Extensions Dance Company.  Lindsay also choreographs and teaches throughout the New England region.  In early 2014 her jazz dance textbook titled Jazz Dance: A History of the Roots and Branches will become available by University Press of Florida; the book is co-edited with Wendy Oliver. Kristyn L. Kubisty graduated with a BA in Dance in February 2003.  Kristyn moved to Fredericksburg, VA and started her own multimedia production studio:  KDT Productions, Inc. Heather Murphy graduated in December 2003 with a BFA in Theatre Performance and a BA in Communications.  "After much deliberation after graduating, I have decided to pursue my career in Public Relations. While putting a hold on acting for awhile. Antonio A. Ramirez-Evaristo was a theatre major "at heart" during the Spring 2003 semester while he was an exchange student at UB. He loves the theatre and did work on our production of Chorus Line as a volunteer piano player for rehearsal. He also played second piano during the show. He has since gone back to Mexico but keeps in touch with the people who were in or worked on Chorus Line. Danielle Sheather graduated in May 2003 with a BFA in Dance and a BA in Psychology.  She toured internationally with Sesame Street Live traveling to Korea, Australia and Germany.  After her tour, Danielle interned at Broadway Dance Center in New York City.  During that time she also danced with Push Factor Dance and performed at the Duke Theater on 42nd Street for the International Dance Festival.  Danielle also demonstrated for Brandon Ellis, a dancer with Ailey II, Philadanco and DCDC, at Perri Dance for an Intermediate Horton class.  Danielle is headed for a Pacific cruise with Holland America as a dancer. Class of 2002

Robin Slisz Bishop graduated with a BA in Dance in 2002.  Robin along with her business partner are co-founders of danceability, Inc., a dance studio for children and adults with special needs that has a family focused approach that seeks to improve the quality of life for the students and their families.  Along with operating the studio, Robin is also a Licensed Social Worker.  She can be reached at rsliszer@aol.com

Kathryn Bisland graduated from UB with a BA in Dance in September 2002. She is now a dance instructor and a professional dancer. Upon graduating from UB, Kathryn moved to New York City for a year where she attended both dance and acting classes regularly and went to many professional production and national commercial auditions. Kathyn has recently moved back to Toronto, where she is now working as a dance instructor teaching jazz, tap, acro, creative movement and primary ballet at 4 different locations across the city. Sarah Borucki obtained a BA in Theatre in May 2002. Robert Dzvonick received a BA in Theatre in 2002.  After graduation, he played pro football for several years before joining the U.S. Marine Corp   He is currently a machine gunner stationed in Iraq, but expects to be transferred to Afghanistan by the end of 2009. Carrie Elisabeth Wicks graduated with a BFA in Music Theatre/Dance Minor. She went on to tour for two years with the North American Tour of The Music Man (Zaneeta Shinn), and for one year on the National Tour of 42nd Street (Dance Captain/Female Swing/Lorraine u.s.).  Carrie Beth returned to Buffalo to complete a Master of Arts degree in Arts Management.   Since December 2007, she has held the position of Development Coordinator for the Irish Classical Theatre Company, where she co-chaired ICTC’s award-winning annual fundraiser, The Wake, in 2009.   Carrie Beth also served as a panelist on the New York Foundation for the Arts Strategic Opportunity Stipends 2009 Western New York Grant Review Panel and the Erie County 2010 DEC Grant Review Panel.  She can be reached at development@irishclassical.com.

Virginia Almendarez received a B.S. in May 2001 from the Department of Theatre and Dance. Upon leaving UB, she continued her education at NYU for a Masters in Performing Arts Administration. Since graduating from NYU in May 2003, she is now the Development Director of THE POINT Community Development Corporation, a $1.5 million non-profit organization that uses arts & culture to revitalize the Hunts Point section of the South Bronx. Robert Ingram graduated with a BA in Theatrical Design and Production in 2001.  Robert is currently the Signature Program Technical Director at James Hubert Blake High School in Silver Spring, MD.  James Hubert Blake High School is an Arts Signature School.  Robert is responsible for teaching general stage craft, lighting design, scene design, and music production/recording engineering.  He is a guest Lighting Designer at various venues throughout the Silver Spring area.  Robert is a member of the International Alliance of Theatrical and State Employees Local 22 in Washington, D. Julie Kenny earned an MAH in Theatre & Dance. Ryan N. Knapp received a BA degree from UB in 2001.  Ryan has spent the last 12 years working as a Technical Director and Production Manager since graduating from UB.  During this time he has completed a Masters of Science in Management and a Masters of Business Administration from University of Maryland University College. Currently he is the Production Manager at the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center on the campus of the University of Maryland.  His background in cultural effectiveness and finance administration work well to support the arts in new and creative ways. While working full-time he has designed and built sets for The National Players tour, Olney Theatre Center, Bristol Riverside Theatre, Nazareth Academy, The Kennedy Center, and American University among others.  He was also the recipient of the 2004 Washington League of Theaters “Offy” award for outstanding Technical Direction.  Ryan continues to be a proud member and presenter for the Production Manager's Forum, USITT, SETC, UPTA, and LORT.

Takiyah Nur Amin Takiyah received her BA in Dance in 2001. Amy Moore Pizio received a BA in Dance.  After attending SUNY Brockport for a MA in Dance Education, Amy moved to South Carolina and began teaching 6th-12 grade dance.  Her choreography helped the Marching Band place second in the state.  Amy currently teaches 9th-12th grade dance at Aiken Performing Arts Academy where she was voted Teacher of the Year in 2008.  She also teaches at Burns dance studio and various places throughout South Carolina.  Amy can be reached via email at amypizio@yahoo.com

Robin Christine Slisz graduated from UB with two BA degrees, in Dance and Social Sciences Interdisciplinary in December of 2001. She is presently a dance instructor for Moving Miracles, a dance program for children and adults with special needs; and in the process of choreographing Bye Bye Birdie for Upstage NY in August 2003. Lauren Stoltz was awarded a BA in Dance.  After graduating in 2001, Lauren moved to NYC to pursue a career in dance. She was a scholarship student at Steps on Broadway and performed with Jette Performance Company for 3 years. Still dancing, Lauren currently works in the field of Arts Education at New York City Center. Martin Strenczewilk graduated in Spring 2001 with a BA in Theatre.  Marty is working as an artist/teacher /department head.  He is currently running a technical theatre program at a performing arts school in midtown Manhattan.  He also works part time with Tricia Brown Dance Company as a carpenter.  He also does other freelance jobs.  Marty's passion outside of teaching is still his dance and choreography.

Christopher Young received a BFA in Theatre in 2001 and is now working Royal Caribbean as a Krooze Komic. As a "Krooze Komic" he does interactive guest entertainment, which includes stilt walking, juggling, sketch comedy, and all different types of sets. Class of 2000

Carrie-ann Brown graduated in May 2000 with a BFA in Theatre.  Carrie-ann is office manager for Forbes Magazine.  While living in New York City, Carrie-ann has continued her acting career.  She belongs to two theater companies.  Recently, she played her favorite role, Helena, in NYC Shakespeare's production of "A Midsummer Night's Dream," and in "The Winter's Tale," she played Perdita.  These performances were at the Lion Theatre at Theatre Row on 42nd Street and 9th Avenue.  In four months, Carrie-ann will be a bride.  She will be getting married this Labor Day weekend to her fiance`, Michael.  Carrie-ann hopes to visit Buffalo soon and visit all those professors who made such a wonderful impact on her life as an actress and as a person.  Carrie-ann can be reached at: cat9305@msn.com

C. Ann Kelly (Benten) graduated in May of 2000 with a BA in Theatrical Technology and Design is currently an Account Executive. Keith A. Wharton graduated with a BFA in Theatre in 1999.  Keith is the Production Director and Co-founder of Kaleidoscope Theatre Productions (KTP); The Head Instructor of the high school curriculum at the Academy of Theatre Arts, where he has been asked, along with Beth Gerardi, to open a satellite school in Lockport, NY.  Keith and Beth have also been key in introducing programs such as Academy after Dark (studio performance); Academy Artisans (professional touring group); and Academy Outreach (introducing the students of the Academy to Inner-city students from New York City and sharing their lives through theatre).  Keith will be starring as Clifford in KTP's production of "DEATHTRAP" that opens January 20, 2006, at the Marie Maday Theatre.  Keith can be reached at bethandkeith@aol.com

Holly J. Wietecha (Collins) graduated with a BFA in Dance in May of 1999. She is presently a Dance Instructor & works also in Computer Operations. Michael J. Walline graduated in 1998 with a BA, Special Major, Musical Theatre Performance.  He is a director and choreographer.  Michael wrote, directed and choreographed Zooma Zooma: The Essence of Prima, a musical review based on the songs of Louis Prima and Keely Smith for Musicalfare Theatre.  Zooma Zooma won the 2004 Artvoice Theatre Award for Outstanding Musical and will be performed at Studio Arena Theatre June 9-26, 2005. Meron Langsner obtained Dual BA (with Cum Laude Honors) Degrees in Theatre and English in 1996. In 2000, he graduated from the NYU Tisch School of the Arts with an MA in Performance Studies. He received an MFA in Playwriting from Brandeis University.   He is a Doctoral Student in Drama at Tufts University with a full scholarship and University Followship. This semester he will be on the faculty of Boston University's Opera Institute as a stage combat instructor. Meron has been selected to be the Playwright in Residence at New Repertory Theatre for the 07/08 season through a grant by the National New Play Network.  Meron's plays are being performed around the country. His plays have won several awards including one from the Kennedy Center.  He is very active in NYC and Boston as a director and fight director. Beth Polito obtained a BA Theatre and Dance in 1996.  She currently lives in NYC and has been working as a performer. Most recently, Beth completed runs with the National Tours of Some Like it Hot, starring Tony Curtis, and Disney's Beauty and the Beast. Lara D. Haberberger graduated from UB in 1992.  Her degrees include a BA, MFA, amd MBA. She is the Artistic Director for the Buffalo based troupe, The Brazen-Faced Varlets.  Lara received an Artie nomination for Oustanding Direction for my production of The Comedy of Queerers.  This production also received an Outstanding Ensemble nomination.   Also, her production of Ladykillers for the Brazen-Faced Varlets received Artie nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress and New Play. Karen Bailes Ruskin graduate of 1992 with a BA degree in Psychology with a minor in Theatre.  Currently known as Dr. Karen Ruskin, in private practice as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Sharon, MA.  Recently released a cutting edge parenting book which can be purchased through her website: www.drkarenruskin.com.  Dr. Ruskin is a regular contributor for FOX25 News Boston.  Dr. Ruskin is the creator and host of the Dr. Karen Show, cable television programming in Sharon, MA.  She married her college sweetheart, also a SUNY Buffalo alum and they have an 8 year old son together.

Josh Brewster graduated with a BA in Theatre in 1988.  Josh works in Los Angeles as an actor, writer, voiceover actor and sports broadcaster.  He currently appears in many radio commercials nationwide, and has narrated TV series for Animal Planet and USA Network.  In 1999 Josh wrote and directed "O.J.F.K." at the Buffalo Ensemble Theatre.  From 1989-1998, he appeared in many comedies and plays in Chicago. In 1989 Josh appeared at Studio Arena in The Beaux' Stratagem.  Josh's best memory of UB (aside from growing up in its shadow, just down Maple Road) was the 1988 American College Theatre Festival in Allentown, PA, where he played Mr. Shu Fu in Kaz Braun's UB production.  Josh credits Kazimierz Braun with encouraging him to ask the most essential questions necessary for a great performance or production; his talent and passion were inspirational.  Jerry Finnegan and Steven Henderson also greatly shaped Josh's approach to his work.  He hopes that UB students enjoy the glorious facilities and top-notch acting and directing teachers such as Kaz Braun, Jerry Finnegan and Steven Henderson.  Josh can be reached at:  joshbrewster@comcast.net
