Susan Hodge Anner has been an instructor at the University at Buffalo Department of Theatre and Dance since 1994. Her first full-length play, The Loadout, was produced in 1992 at UB's Harriman Theatre. She was a finalist for the Thayer Fellowship in the Arts in 1994 and was honored by being the first playwright chosen to win in the Theatre Category. Many of her short plays have been produced at the Alleyway Theatre in Buffalo and Lovecreek Productions in New York. She received the 1999 David Fendrick Theatre Award for her full-length play Searching for Cindy Crawford which was presented as a semi-finalist at Indiana Reparatory Theatre as part of the IUPUI/Bonderman National Playwrighting Symposium. The full revised script was given a staged reading by the Irish Classical Theatre Company in April of 2000. The play was also chosen for the Pittsburgh Festival of New Plays and was produced at the Gemini Theatre in Pittsburgh in February of 2001. She has received grants from the County Initiative Program and Education Fund for Greater Buffalo and has been a teaching artist for Just Buffalo Literary Center since 1997 where she has focused on working with special populations including a two-year creative arts program (Write to Win) at Western New York Psychiatric Day Treatment Center. She currently teaches Acting, Playwriting, Introduction to Theatre for Majors, and Performance Appreciation.
