 Anne Burnidge is a contemporary dancer and choreographer originally from the Chicago area.  She has an MFA in choreography from The Ohio State University and a certification in Laban Movement Analysis from the Integrated Movement Studies program at the University of Utah.  She is the artistic director of Anne Burnidge and Dancers and co-directs Burnidge Clark Dance.  Her work has been presented across the country including at the Philly Fringe Festival, WAX Works, the Toronto International Dance Festival, and the American Dance Guild Festival in New York City.  Anne has received numerous grants and awards to pursue and present her creative research including a New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) Strategic Opportunities Stipend for work, Discesa in Bianco (Descent in White).  Discesa was presented at the Vision of Sound concert series in Western New York, was selected for the Northeast Regional American College Dance Festival Association Gala, and was chosen to be presented at the Rebound Dance Festival in New Haven, CT. In addition to dancing in her own work, Anne has performed in works by Bebe Miller, Meredith Monk, Maguy Marin, and Nicole Stanton and with contemporary companies including Helander Dance Theatre, Open Door Theatre, and Buffalo Contemporary Dance. 

Anne is an active member of several dance organizations, presenting her scholarly research at their national and international conferences, including the International Association of Dance Medicine and Science (IADMS), the Congress on Research in Dance (CORD), and the National Dance Education Organization (NDEO). Her research focuses on using her expertise in somatic practices and anatomy/kinesiology to develop healthy, holistic approaches to training dancers.  Some of her recent presentations include: Finding a neutral pelvis: a gateway to increased efficiency and power in the lower body; Ballet for Every BODY; and Using the theraband to cultivate ‘whole-body connectivity’ in dance technique class.  Anne is also regularly invited to teach guest and master classes in her areas of specialty including at the Penn State Summer Dance Program and Dance Masters of America.  She is currently a board member of the American College Dance Festival Association (ACDFA). 

Her teaching credits also include The Ohio State University, SUNY Brockport, University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and Columbia College Chicago.  Anne teaches a wide variety of courses ranging from modern and ballet technique, to repertory and composition, to Dance Kinesiology and Laban Movement Analysis.
