Tressa
Gorman Crehan M.S., has been on the dance faculty at the University
at Buffalo, State University of New York, for over 26 years. She has served
as Associate Director of Dance, Head of Dance Education and Creative Studies
in the Dance Program, and Director and Associate Director of Zodiaque Dance
Company. Tressa is also the Founding Director of Young Choreographers Showcase
and the UB Summer Dance Program.
Tressa is an active member of the National Dance Education Organization (NDEO),
the New York Dance Education Association (NYSTEA), and the American College
Dance Festival Association (ACDFA). She has been a guest speaker/presenter for
these and other organizations. She is currently serving as the Northeast Regional
Representative for the ACDFA and is on the NYSTEA board.
The UB Dance Department hosted the American College Dance Festival in both 2003
and 2005 under Tressa’s direction. UB will host the festival in 2007 with
Tressa again serving as Chair. Tressa was also Conference Co-Chair of the 2005
NDEO Annual Conference held in Buffalo, NY.
She was a recipient of the prestigious Milton Plesur Excellence in Teaching
Award. Tressa has been awarded numerous grants for dance, performance technology,
and choreographic research. Her choreography credits range from concert dance
to theatrical productions to computer generated choreography. She is extremely
active in presenting workshops, master classes and lectures in dance kinesiology,
creative movement, modern dance, and dance for children and special populations.
Her guest teaching and choreography have taken her across the United States
and throughout Mexico and South America.
